Verbania: the garden city of Lake Maggiore. This is how the inhabitants describe it and they do not sin of vanity. Verbania is a city very rich in green areas and hosts one of the most beautiful villas in Italy, surrounded by botanical gardens, commissioned in the mid-twentieth century by a Scotsman, who knew a lot about greenery: today his masterpiece still enchants thousands of visitors every year: take a trip to Villa Taranto (in the Pallanza area) and discover this all-Italian wonder.

The city was born in 1939 from the merger of two municipalities of Lake Maggiore and derives its name from the lake which is also called Verbano. The lakeside promenade is enchanting, especially on sunny days when you can easily glimpse the views of the towns on the opposite shore. Interesting is the visit to the Isolino S. Giovanni and the adjacent Mausoleum Cadorna. Do not miss a tour through the streets of the historic center.

The city stands on a triangle-shaped promontory in the center of Lake Maggiore which marks the northern end of the Borromeo Gulf, into which the Toce flows.

On the south-western shore there are the villages of Pallanza and Suna, to the east, separated from the course of the San Bernardino stream, is the village of Intra, while to the north is the hamlet of Trobaso.
